Causes of Mesothelioma

The cause of mesothelioma can almost always be linked  to asbestos exposure. In fact, virtually all cases of mesothelioma are thought to be caused by the inhalation of asbestos, a naturally occurring, fibrous mineral which is easily separated into thin, microscopic threads. Despite the fact that it is known to cause diseases like mesothelioma, it has been used in thousands of products for the past century.

At SimmonsCooper we have significant experience helping victims of mesothelioma. It is our goal to do whatever we can to put you and your family at ease. The first step, we believe, is to provide you with as much information as possible so you can make informed, confident decisions when dealing with this complex disease.

Throughout the 30s and 40s, the use of asbestos continued to expand, particularly in industrial settings. It wasn’t until the 1970s when asbestos was officially regulated in the United States by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

American workers and their family members came into contact with asbestos and brought it home on their clothing, skin and hair. Symptoms of asbestos diseases usually are not be apparent until decades after exposure. Therefore, victims often struggle to understand what is causing their symptoms.
